At boutique gyms, you are very limited however at the Dowd, I have a variety of choices from swimming, Barre, Pliates, Cycle to Functioning Training.Participating in Cardio Dance class after work reminded me how much I missed options. If you workout during the middle of the day you wont have to wait on equipment to be free to use. I dont mind the wait because I like the equipment and the options. It is 4 stories, with racquetball courts, plenty of cardio equipment, group fitness classes, I stay in the weight area mainly and they have a turf area which I like. Theres a womens only center too so its good for women if they dont feel comfortable around a large crowd of if yours first starting out. They have a coffee shop in there now and community work space if you want to work remotely there.

I have a few gym memberships just to keep things interesting and it helps keep me motivated. They have a sauna, steam room, hot tub, and indoor pool which really make it stand out from other gyms. The Y is pretty much always busy when I go which is early morning but its also busy at night after 6pm.
Functional Bodybuilding is the use of progressive resistance exercise to control and develop one’s muscles. This hypertrophy program, based on 8-week cycles, is designed to increase the size of your muscle fibers. This instructor-led class will help you reach your fitness goals both related to strength and physical appearance. The facility is nice, however, the desk workers could be trained to be a bit nicer. On 2 occasions did the workers give me a rude or uncomfortable experience. The male employees who have been working the check in desk this week during morning shift have given me the feeling that they did not want to be there.

Built in 1891, it was the home of lumber and banking millionaire Thomas Douglas Stimson. During Stimson's lifetime, the house survived a dynamite attack by a blackmailer in 1896. There’s also the impressive Stamm Burger, made from certified Angus beef that comes with caramelized onions, arugula, tomatoes, crispy cheese curds and bacon-herb aioli on a buttered brioche bun. The building was completed and donated to the University of California in 2016 to be used for the Stuart House program. All Stuart House services are provided free of charge to the children and families served. When a friend and I dined at the Stamm House recently, we shared baked trout and hash-brown encrusted walleye entrees that were delicious.

The restaurant reopened in 2015 and tried to compete with what Madigan called Madison’s fancier, chef-driven restaurants. “Most buildings like that have either been redone or turned into museums,” said Rost, who figures he and his partners put $500,000 into the restoration, not including his sweat equity. “I’ve been rehabbing old properties since 2000 in Dane County, buildings that have interesting bones, but that no one else wants,” Rost said.

Rost took his time on the project, spending two years to uncover the old stonework and patch and repair the walls where needed. He and his crew also replaced the front parking lot with an 88-person patio that is the largest outdoor dining locale in Middleton, the Madison suburb that absorbed Pheasant Branch. In the backyard, there is a woodfire pizza oven, which is where Stamos revealed he cooked his first meal for McHugh. They also have a fruit and vegetable garden, a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a basketball court, and a children's playground.

He also wanted to honor the early Wisconsin residents who would have lived and worked in the region. Craig Madigan, a Detroit native who runs the restaurant, said it became a supper club in the 1950s and was known for its Friday night fish fries. In recent years the restaurant fell on hard times and Rost was able to buy it out of foreclosure in 2013. It was a natural spot to build a store and stagecoach stop in 1847 to serve both the small community and travelers.

Good location, and the room was very comfortable. The front desk worker....Tabitha.....was very pleasant and made checking in what it should be.....easy and enjoyable. Actually, to my surprise, when I got there, the GM, Chet Patel....gave us a FREE upgrade to the presidential suite. All I can say about this stay was that it was what you always want your stay to be. Rost and his crew first pulled the red wood siding off the building and gutted it, in the process “reimagining” how it would look. He said he tried to put himself in the place of the people who lived in what was essentially a wilderness back then, working with horses and wagons, hand tools and laboring in primitive sawmills that could cut huge beams. The original wine cellar, is now our Chef’s Cave, and the exterior has been restored to its historic 19th century appearance. This much needed work ensures the Stamm House will continue to be a part of Middleton history. The house is considered an iconic representation of modern architecture in Los Angeles during the twentieth century. It was made famous by a Julius Shulman photograph showing two women leisurely sitting in a corner of the house with an eventide panoramic view of the city through floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Stimson House is a Richardsonian Romanesque mansion in the University Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
After 1925 it was purchased by Heine Fuller, who likely named the building after the German word “stammtisch” which means “regular table”. During this era, there was a thriving German-American community in the Pheasant Branch area and the Stamm House catered to their needs. We also liked the fresh beans, garlic sauteed spinach and crispy brussels sprouts. For dessert, we shared a blueberry crumble, a la mode, created by Hagstrom’s wife, whom Madigan called a pastry expert. It has been restored to its original stone walls, ceiling and wine cellar, all with modern restaurant systems and now 1847 at the Stamm House offers lunch, dinner, Friday Fish Fry, Saturday and Sunday Brunch, as well as a full bar.
